French teenager Zaccharie Risacher has submitted the necessary paperwork to the NBA to take part in the 2024 draft, with him expected to be the first pick.

If he is selected first in the 2024 NBA Draft, Risacher will follow in the footsteps of his compatriot, Victor Wembanyama, who performed brilliantly in his first season with the San Antonio Spurs.

Small Forward with a height of 2.08 meters, who will be 19 years old in the next 2 weeks, is currently appearing with the French League club, JL Bourg of Pro A.

“It’s my dream to play in the best basketball league in the world,” Risacher told ESPN. “I have worked hard since childhood. JL Bourg has given me the opportunity to show my abilities.”

Risacher had 10.4 points and 3.4 rebounds while making 39% of his three-point shots. He can also play defense, often killing the opposing team’s star players.

Risacher, whose father Stephane was a Europa League star and led the French national team to a silver medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, guided JL Bourg to the EuroCup final but lost in the final match.

This year’s NBA Draft will be held on June 26 and 27 in New York.

The list of top-ranked teams in the NBA draft will be decided in a drawing in Chicago on May 12 with the 14 clubs that failed to make the playoffs a chance to land the top pick.

Wembanyama, who was the first pick of last year’s NBA Draft posted 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 3.6 blocks and 1.2 steals in his first season with the Spurs. (AFP/Z-1)
