Yves Delcoigne, former Frasnois policeman, dies suddenly on the road in Celles

The collision between a truck and a car that occurred late Monday followingnoon at the Chaussée de Ronse claimed the life of a man in his seventies. This is Yves Delcoigne, well known in the region of Frasnes-lez-Anvaing where he was a police officer for many years.

“It is always a great sadness to learn of such a brutal death”comments Carine De Saint-Martin, mayor of the Frasnoise entity. “Especially since Yves Delcoigne was the father-in-law of our fellow municipal councilor Caroline Mercier. It is shocking for the whole family, especially in such circumstances. He would have deviated from his trajectory, but we will never really know what what happened; whether it was an illness or something else.”

If she did not know him in office, Carine De Saint-Martin widely heard of a man who did his job thoroughly. “He was very invested and not afraid to take responsibility.”

Yves Delcoigne was a long-time friend of the Courrier de l’Escaut. He had also collaborated with our editorial staff as a correspondent for a few years.

Yves Delcoigne leaves behind a family and friends distraught by his sudden departure and all remember his humanity and his kindness.

To the relatives of Yves Delcoigne, the editorial staff of the Courrier de l’Escaut offers its sincere condolences.
