Yuki Tsunoda “I don’t understand the cause of the lack of pace at the F1 Miami GP”[F1-Gate .com]

Yuki Tsunoda (Scuderia AlphaTauri) laments that he does not understand why he was lacking pace at the F1 Miami Grand Prix.

In AlphaTauri, Pierre Guthrie started the race on the 7th grid and Yuki Tsunoda started the race on the 9th grid, and there was a legitimate hope to score points.

But in the end it didn’t happen. Pierre Guthrie retired due to a collision with Lando Norris, and Yuki Tsunoda finished in 12th place.

Yuki Tsunoda lost some positions at the start but returned to 10th place. He lost the battle with Mick Schumacher on lap 6. After that, it was suspected that the car might have been damaged.

However, Yuki Tsunoda says he doesn’t think it was the cause of the lack of pace.

“I don’t know. I literally didn’t have the pace or grip from the start, and I really had a hard time maintaining the pace,” commented Yuki Tsunoda.

“It was the exact opposite of Imola. It’s similar to Australia.”

Yuki Tsunoda finished in 15th place at the Australian Grand Prix and ended up with no points.

“From the second lap, the tires deteriorated and I had a hard time keeping pace. I need to analyze why, but neither stin had any pace at all.”

Yuki Tsunoda says it is not known what the reason is or whether it is due to medium tires.

“I really don’t know. It’s similar to the problem I had in Australia. I have to take a look, but it was literally slow.”

Yuki Tsunoda changed from medium to hard and eventually changed to soft compound, but none of the tires improved.

“It didn’t get much better. It was a little more stable and I felt better on the last 15 laps, but the first stint was too late. It was difficult to keep pace.”
