On July 15th, in Hongtong Village, Yuhang Street, in the rice field contracted by Chen Jun, a big grain grower, three large harvesters were busy shuttling through them, locomotives passed by, and the grains returned to the warehouse. “This year, I have planted more than 700 mu of early rice in Yuhang Street and Jingshan Town.” Looking at the full grains, the high temperature might not stop Chen Jun’s joy of harvesting.
The early rice variety planted by Chen Jun this year is the newly introduced Zhongji 18, which has the advantage of a short growth period, 115 days from sowing to harvesting, high yield, large grain size, strong insect resistance and adaptability, and convenient management. “The output is higher than last year, and the national policy is also good, the subsidies have increased, and the income of our grain farmers is not bad.” Chen Jun said.
In recent years, Yuhang District has actively promoted the “double-strengthening” action of strengthening agriculture with science and technology and strengthening agriculture with machinery, constantly promoting new equipment, new technologies, new varieties, etc., focusing on improving agricultural production efficiency and promoting high-quality agricultural development.
It is worth mentioning that recently in Chonghua Village, Pingyao Town, the Agricultural Technology Promotion Center of the District Agriculture and Rural Bureau organized relevant technicians to test the yield of the early rice demonstration side. This time, the per-mu yield of the precision planter insertion technology is 655.87 kg, while the per-mu yield of the conventional planter insertion technology is 584.12 kg. The yield increase effect is very obvious. It is the highest per mu yield of early rice in the area in recent years. The yield per mu is more than 550 kilograms.
This year, the harvested area of early rice in the whole region reached more than 4,100 mu, and the total output is expected to reach more than 1,950 tons, an increase of more than 2,080 mu compared with last year, and the total output increased by 1,050 tons, achieving nine consecutive increases in summer grain harvesting area and output. Up to now, 2,430 mu have been harvested in the whole region, which greatly exceeded the task of early rice production area of 1,900 mu and output of 800 tons assigned by the superior to our region.
