In the “721” incident in Yuen Long in 2019, another man in white, 63-year-old Cheng Weiming, was convicted of rioting and wounding others. The judge adjourned the sentence to October 27, and the defendant was still in the custody of the Correctional Institution. The judge questioned the defense’s claim that the men in white were “rising uprisings” to prevent the anti-social actions of the men in black , for sure that the action of the men in white is a riot.

The facts of the case allege that on the night of July 21, the previous year, Cheng Weiming was suspected of attacking others in Yuen Long Station with fists and canes, and instructing other men in white clothes to enter the platform of Yuen Long Station to participate. The case was tried in the District Court and was adjudicated in the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts yesterday. Deputy Judge Wang Xingwei said in his ruling yesterday that he confirmed that the defendant’s related charges were captured by comparing the footage presented in the courtroom. The defense said that the people in white gathered that night to oppose the daytime demonstrations that day, and they started an uprising on their own due to the inaction of the police, which is a rights protection incident. The judge pointed out that there were a large number of people in white clothes, and the attack was the first following entering the station, and the behavior must be a riot.

The judge also pointed out that the number, behavior and equipment of the white-clothed people obviously damaged the peace of the society. The defendant actively participated in the operation. In addition, he and other white-clothed people gathered in various places in Yuen Long before the incident. The only reasonable inference was that the man in white intended to harm the man in black; the defendant entered Yuen Long Station without a weapon, and only held a cane followingward. He believed that he had to cause serious harm to others, and the sentence was changed to a lesser conspiracy to hurt. People are guilty.

Including Cheng Weiming, a total of 8 people in white were convicted of the 721 incident.
