YTN union members shout slogans as new president Kim Baek heads towards the inauguration ceremony.

″President Kim Baek, go away, go away!″

President Kim, who was a former managing director of YTN and said, “I feel a great sense of responsibility,” revealed that the ownership structure had changed to a private broadcasting company, leading to a period of great change.

He went on to say that the reporting during the last presidential election was not fair and that we should look back to see if this was the cause of privatization.

″The so-called “Julie” report, which reported one-sided claims regarding the presidential candidate’s wife twice without any verification, reached its peak.″

At the same time, he promised a public apology, saying he would regain the trust of viewers.

″Through a public declaration confessing past mistakes and promising to prevent recurrence‥″

YTN union members fiercely protested, saying that President Kim, who had undermined fair broadcasting by leading the YTN journalist dismissal incident in the past, had declared that he would run a “government-loyal broadcast.”

″Take it out. Because it’s interfering with work. <사원들 목소리도 못 듣습니까?>″

The YTN union criticized President Kim for admitting that he had been privatized because he broadcasted unsuitable for the government as soon as he took office.

″When the Yoon Seok-yeol administration privatized YTN, the reason was to improve the efficiency of the public enterprise’s assets. But it was like admitting to yourself that that wasn’t the case.”

President Kim concluded his inauguration speech with the words, “I will accompany you on the path to the second creation without leaving a single person behind,” but as he predicted “escape from labor-run broadcasting” and “penal punishment for personal injury,” the conflict between labor and management is expected to grow further.
