YPF will increase the price of fuel by 4.5% starting tonight

Starting at midnight this Saturday June 17 fuel prices will increase by 4.5% in all the country. The increase will be 11 pesos per liter average throughout the national territory.

The increase was reported by the oil company around 9:00 p.m. this Friday. “This adjustment helps to offset the variation in the official exchange rate, the differences in logistics and operating costs, the narrowing of the gap between fuel grades, and the increase in biofuel prices,” they said in a tweet.

It should be noted that this Thursday different service stations in the city of Córdoba woke up with changes in their pumps, where it is already applied another tranche of the increase agreed with the national government.

Around 7 this Thursday, the 4% rise was already noticeable in some stations, while YPF reported that it would retouch its prices during the day.

Increase in fuels: how is the agreement with the oil companies

Last April, the national government announced that, through a renewal of the price agreement with the fuel sector for a period of four months, gasoline will increase 4% per monthin an agreement that applies from April 15 to August 15, according to the Ministry of Economy.

In a statement, the Palacio de Hacienda indicated that the agreement is part of the “Fair Prices” program with the oil sector “to stabilize fuel prices.”

The agreement establishes “a guideline for a 4% monthly increase in the prices of gasoline and diesel from April 15 to August 15, and this measure seeks to protect consumers and promote stability in the market,” as indicated by the official part.

It was signed by the companies YPF, PAE (Axion), Raízen (Shell) and Trafigura (Puma).
