YouTube Shorts starts testing sticker questions to promote in-app interaction

YouTube has confirmed that it is preparing a new feature for Shorts, its section of short videos with a format similar to that of TikTok. The platform claims to be experiencing a interactive sticker to allow creators to ask their fans questionswho could submit their responses via comments visible to everyone.

When tapping the Q&A sticker on a Shorts short video, a new comment section should open to display responses submitted by fans. The stickers will only work on cell phones and tablets, so it will not be possible to interact directly with them through a desktop, laptop or TV.

According to YouTube, the feature is in the experimental phase with a small number of influencers. Finding short videos with the question and answer sticker may be difficult at the moment, but it is expected that the new feature will be released to more people soon, so that it can be tested by more users.

Although similar in purpose to the “Questions” sticker on Instagram Stories, YouTube Shorts stickers will have public responses visible to everyone at any time. On the competing social network, responses are only visible when the user posts a response in the form of an image or video.

The news arrives after the platform disabled links in videos published in Shorts. According to the company, the objective is to make it difficult to share spam and prevent scammers from deceiving people by disclosing malicious addresses on the web.

Along with the question stickers, the platform began testing a feature for identifying key concepts in academic videos, presenting information on the subject in the form of images and excerpts from parallel studies in real time directly on the page. The feature is optional and will initially be available for videos in English.
