YouTube introduced a new feature for Shorts with which iOS users will be able to include an excerpt of a few seconds from any video eligible video from the platform in your own original creation.
The technology company took inspiration from a function already present in TikTok to include it in its own version of short videos in vertical format. Remixes or “remixes” of videos thus come to Shorts to encourage collaboration between users.
Specifically, YouTube for iOS has added the following “Create” buttonthat appears below an eligible video on the platform. Thanks to it, creators will be able to carve a clip with a maximum length of five seconds of length to insert into your own video. The clip can also be from a previous video by the same creator, as Engadget details.
In case the clip is from another person’s video, the platform will automatically will attribute this authorship and link to the original content.for audience sharing.
This feature builds on a similar feature already available on YouTube, through which users can. remix audio clips from other videos. And it comes with an option that gives creators the ability to mark their videos as potential remixes in other creations.
Video remixes in Shorts for iOS will be rolling out gradually over the next few weeks. The visibility of short videos has also been extended. on the web (desktop version and mobile version) and on tablets.whereas until now they were exclusive to the mobile application.
