At a time when Tik Tok is facing uncertainty in the US and has been banned in India, YouTube has announced the introduction of short video-based YouTube Shorts.
This new feature will allow users to upload videos of 15 seconds duration or less created with the new Creator tools.
In simple terms, this new YouTube feature is actually similar to Tik Tok, with speed controls, a timer, and a countdown feature.
Music will also be added to these short videos and for this YouTube has a huge library of songs which the company says will grow over time.
Additionally, the multi-segment camera will also help users combine multiple video clips into one short video.
Such tools are commonly used in Tik Tok video recording, and recently Instagram added these features to tool rails based on its imitation of the Chinese social media app.
Similar to Tik Tok in YouTube, this feature will feature in the Android app and will gradually be rolled out to iOS as well.
This Tik Tok clone by YouTube is being introduced first in India, which was Tik Tok’s biggest market, but is now facing a ban there.
In the coming months, this feature will be available to users in other countries as well.
