Great news has just fallen for content creators using OBS Studio software.
Its latest version 29.1, still in beta phase, now supports AV1 encoding when streaming to YouTube. It thus makes it possible to obtain a video quality superior to that of H.264 at similar bitrates, announce the developers of OBS Studio in a press release shared last week on their official Twitter page:
OBS Studio 29.1 is out!
This release adds AV1/HEVC streaming to YouTube (feature in beta), multiple audio tracks in Simple Output Mode, preloading stinger transitions, new audio encoder settings, faster loads/updates, and various other fixes.

This update brings various bug fixes and also implements some new features mentioned in this release.
If you see a clear evolution in the rendering of videos from your favorite streamers over the next few weeks, it’s because OBS Studio has something to do with it.
