Others mocked the story, with one follower posting a picture of Trump with Musk’s head sitting on a chair with the words “You’re fired” and commenting: “Elon at his first meeting with all federal employees.”
On Monday, Trump said he would offer Musk an official position on his team if he wins the presidential election scheduled for November 5, if the latter is interested in that and willing to engage in such activities.
The relationship between Musk and Trump has recently witnessed an unprecedented rapprochement, as the owner of the “X” platform officially announced last month that he supports Trump as a candidate for the presidential elections, after previously voting for the Democratic Party.
Musk interviewed Trump on August 12 on the X platform, during which the latter made a number of controversial statements. Trump also described Musk as “a brilliant and special person,” adding that they had always had a good relationship.
Musk has made donations to candidates from both parties over the years, but he has not spent much money on the presidential election, and his donations have generally been split evenly between Democrats and Republicans.
In March, Musk said the United States needed the Republican Party in power “or America would be finished.”
