“Your struggle is also ours”: Cuban women support María Corina Machado’s leadership

A group of Cuban academics, businesswomen and artists sent a message in support of María Corina Machado, national coordinator of Vente Venezuela, highlighting her leadership as a woman in Venezuelan politics.

The message, which Machado published on her X account (formerly Twitter), features Rosa María Payá, activist for freedom and human rights and founder of the NGO Cuba Decide; Susana Pérez, actress; Rachell Vallori, model and actress; Grecia Ordóñez; entrepreneur, activist and influencer; Haydée Milanés, singer; Bea César, singer and composer; Claudia Riverón, civil engineer; Camila Acosta, journalist and researcher and Gigi Maduq, graduate in Social Communication, model and influencer.

Also offering a few words are Gabriela Pino, a graduate in International Relations and businesswoman; Daycee Zamora, a doctor in Medicine; Anamely Ramos, a graduate in Art History and a human rights activist; Marissa Díaz, a graduate in Political Science and a libertarian influencer; Beatriz Valdés, an actress; Aymée Nuviola, a singer, pianist, composer and actress; Elianys Beatriz Pérez, a graduate in Science in Global Business; and Carolina Barrero, an activist for freedom and human rights.

In total, 17 Cuban women said: “María Corina, we are with you. Cuban women who have lived through the horrors of communism are with you. We know first-hand the pain of Venezuelans and their cause for freedom. We extend our most sincere support and absolute admiration for the brave work you lead in Venezuela.”

The participants stressed that Machado’s “unwavering leadership” for “freedom and democracy” in Venezuela “resonates with us, who also want a free Cuba.”

Inspiration

“The fact that you are a woman inspires us and confirms that we can be an unstoppable driving force of change in the dismantling of socialism as the social scarcity that it represents. With your resilience, your courage and your strategic planning, you have generated new hope, not only for Venezuela, but for Latin America, uniting millions of human beings around the world in a single idea: freedom.”

They added: “We, the Cuban women who defend and support freedom, support you, María Corina Machado, in spirit and purpose, because your fight is also ours. María Corina, you are not only the leader of the Venezuelans, you are the most important political leader in the world and you are not alone. Cuban women are with you and there is no turning back, it is until the end. And that end will not happen as long as there is no freedom.”

In the video description, Machado thanked the group for their message: “Their struggle is ours. We love them and admire their courage. Today, women around the world are connected in an unstoppable network for dignity, democracy and freedom. Without borders, for our families and our right to live free,” she said.
