The kidneys are one of the important organs of the body, as they help to get rid of toxins in the body and remove waste, so cleaning them is necessary to maintain their functions efficiently.
We show you some ways to clean the kidneys naturally daily, according to the “healthline” and “medicalnewstoday” websites.
1. Hydration:
The adult human body is made up of approximately 60% water, and every organ, from the brain to the liver, needs water to function.
The kidneys also require water to excrete urine which allows the body to get rid of unwanted or unnecessary substances.
When water intake is low, urine volume is low, and decreased urine output may lead to kidney impairment, such as the formation of kidney stones.
So it is necessary to drink enough water so that the kidneys can properly eliminate the excess waste, and to cleanse the kidneys.
The recommended daily amount of fluid is 2.7 to 3.7 liters per day for men and women, according to the Institute of Medicine.
2. Choose foods that support kidney health:
grapes
Grapes contain a beneficial plant compound called resveratrol, and in one study, researchers found that treatment with resveratrol was able to reduce kidney inflammation.
Cranberries
A clinical trial published in the Journal of Nutrition showed that women who ate sweetened and dried cranberries daily for two weeks experienced a reduced incidence of urinary tract infections.
fruit juices
Lemon, orange, and watermelon juices contain citric acid or citrate, and citrate helps prevent kidney stone formation by binding to calcium in the urine. Additionally, drinking a glass of fresh juice daily, can contribute to the recommended daily fluid intake.
Calcium-rich foods
You can meet the recommended daily amount of 1.2 grams of calcium, by eating calcium-rich foods, such as: soy or almond milk.
Tofu, a fortified cereal.
– olive oil
Olive oil is an essential ingredient in the kitchen, so it is good for the kidneys, as it contains oleic acid which has anti-inflammatory effects, and it is also free of phosphorous for a safe and better kidney health diet.
– cabbage
It is full of nutrients and minerals, which are great for kidney health such as: calcium, vitamin K, vitamin C, fiber, manganese, vitamin B6 and folic acid. It is also low in phosphorous and potassium, two minerals that you should avoid if you suffer from kidney disease.
3. Have a kidney cleanser tea:
A recent animal study found that extracts of hydrangea for 3 days provide a protective effect once morest kidney damage, due to their antioxidant properties.
4. Take nutritional supplements:
Vitamin B6: It is an important cofactor in many metabolic reactions, and for the maintenance of kidney health.
According to the Food and Nutrition Board (FNB), adults should not exceed 100 milligrams per day of this vitamin, unless they are receiving this vitamin as part of their medically supervised treatment.
Potassium citrate is a necessary component of urine pH balance, and treatment with it can help reduce the formation of kidney stones, especially in people who have frequent episodes.
5. Reduce your salt intake:
The body needs salt or sodium, but too much of it can raise blood pressure, which can increase a person’s risk of kidney failure, heart disease, and stroke.
The NIDDK recommends that people limit their sodium intake to less than 2,300 milligrams per day, to reduce their risk of developing chronic kidney disease. People can reduce their sodium intake by eating fewer processed foods and choosing low-sodium or sodium-free options.
6. Limit or avoid the following foods and drinks:
It is best to avoid these foods to cleanse the kidneys such as: processed foods, refined carbohydrates, sugar and artificial sweeteners, alcohol, caffeine.
