For several months, some French people have seen their electric bill explode. Market prices have literally flown away this summerreaching up to 1,000 euros per megawatt hour once morest just over 100 euros in September 2021. A real headache for alternative electricity suppliers, who buy it from EDF or on the wholesale marketbefore reselling it to their customers.
Some have already announced that the increases were going to be painful. Others, like the Spanish supplier Iberdrola, have explained to their customers that they would be well advised to contract with another operator, at the risk of seeing their bill double or triple. In a letter, mid-August, several thousand of its French customers learned that their contract will not be renewed.
