There will be many business successions in the next few years, says the state chairwoman of Woman in Business, Margit Angerlehner. That’s why the Chamber of Commerce’s women entrepreneurs’ representation focuses on successful female takeovers.
Elisabeth Andrieux, managing director of the transport company Hofmann & Nephew, and Christina Haller from the Linz construction company of the same name, two female transferees discussed their path and their experiences at this week’s “Ladies Lounge”. The host was Elisabeth Engelbrechtsmüller-Strauß, managing partner at Fronius. She herself took over the leading company with 2,500 employees from her mother and uncle. Today there are 8,000 employees.
Both Haller (36) and Andrieux (36) became interested in their respective family businesses early on and chose their training paths accordingly. “It was always clear to me that I wanted to take over,” says Andrieux, who returned to transport operations in 2018.
Christina Haller is the fourth generation to take over a group with seven companies and 150 employees. She feels the responsibility: “You don’t want to disappoint the family and the employees.” The entrepreneur and mother of three sees a great need for innovation in the construction industry, which she will address.
Similar to Andrieux, who runs the transport company with 220 employees with her mother: She is one of the first to use electric trucks, wants to test their practicality and travel emission-free “wherever possible”.
