Young Venezuelan spoke after surviving the tragic accident in Nicaragua

The testimonies of the victims indicate that the bus was speeding.

A young Venezuelan survived the traffic accident in Nicaragua, where at least 13 people died, and recounted some moments during the incident that left 16 victims and more than 40 injured.

L. Cortez, 24, traveled with the family. An aunt passed away and Cortez lived through it at that moment.

“It is a great pain to lose a family member, we were only looking for progress for our family, for our future, and unfortunately God wanted in his plans that our aunt would accompany us until then. I do not wish this to nobody. It is very hard to live in this situation. In the accident we lost everything, money, documents, clothes, everything,” he said.

Survivors said the bus was speeding and had mechanical failures as it left the Managua terminal. There were also a large number of passengers, mostly Venezuelan migrants.

“The man was coming at high speed, we had tension. On a curve, the man loses control of the bus. He tried to push it towards the mountain and some cars were coming from the front, and he decided to launch himself towards some cars that were parked on the curve. I was going straight ahead and I see that a person was getting out of the car, ran over it, hit the bumper, we overturned and fell into the void. I hit my head with the windshield, ”said a victim of the event.

In other testimonies they have pointed out that they felt when the bus fell to the precipice.
