As part of the new Agricultural Program of the city of Medellín (2024-2027), seeking to promote self-sustainability and responsible food production in four educational institutions.
The Medellín mayor’s office launched the program with 3,610 children and young people from various districts of the city.

The first schools to join this strategy are the Mariana Orth Educational Institution in Altavista, Héctor Rogelio Montoya in San Sebastián de Palmitas, San José Obrero in San Antonio de Prado and the Santa Elena Educational Institution.
In these schools, modules with irrigation systems and areas for organic waste management will be installed, allowing students to learn advanced agricultural techniques.
The second phase of the program will include the installation of vertical gardens in San Sebastián de Palmitas, Santa Elena and San Antonio de Prado, with approximately 560 seedlings per plant.

In addition, irrigation, composting, greenhouses and fish farming systems will be implemented, with cultivation areas ranging from 16 to 2,000 square meters.
