The French Prosecutor’s Office accused seven young people of committing a massive robbery in broad daylight on the film set of the new season of the Netflix series ‘Lupin’, starring French actor Omar Sy, local media report.
On February 25, the film crew was attacked by a group of about 20 hooded people while working in the suburbs of Paris.
As a distraction, the assailants set off fireworks at the crew before taking props and recording equipment valued at about $330,000. No one was injured.
Seven people, between 13 and 21 years old, were charged with armed robbery in an organized gang.
According to a person related to the investigation, the Police know the identity of the young people. Three of them are currently in preventive detention, while the others are under judicial supervision.
However, the agents are still looking for the other members of the gang who fled. In addition, the source stated that a part of the stolen goods had been recovered during the searches.
The crime stands out not only for the value of the stolen materials, but also because it is the second incident of this type that a Netflix production has suffered in a few days.
On February 23, around 350 objects and antiques valued at more than $200,000 were stolen during the filming of the series ‘The Crown’, which was set in the county of South Yorkshire, in the United Kingdom.
The producers have not yet announced the premiere date of the new season of ‘Lupin’, however, it is one of Netflix’s most anticipated projects given the popularity of previous installments of the suspense and mystery series.
