The suspect, 18, armed with a large knife, filmed and broadcast his act live via X before being arrested by police and taken into custody, according to reports. Some Turkish media spoke of seven wounded.
“The attacker was wearing an outfit similar to a video game character, an ax slung across his waist, a bulletproof vest, a helmet and a mask,” Eskişehir Durum news website reported.
Self-shot footage shows him wearing goggles over a mask with skull-like features on the lower part of his face. Turkish websites also reported that he carried a “black sun” — a Nazi symbol consisting of three swastikas — on his chest.
The assailant did not shout or claim responsibility for the act, Cumhuriyet newspaper said, adding that he may have been “under the influence of war video games”.
