“Young Man Attempts Parkour in Government Palace, Causes Damage to Heritage Building”

This Wednesday afternoon The video of a young man allegedly doing parkour in the Government Palace, in the center of Guadalajar, was surpriseda, because he tried to jump from one point to another, but he failed in the attempt and fell from an approximate height of three meters.

In the images it is seen that the influencer named Johnny Montesana intended to jump from one quarry canopy to anotherin one of the windows of the Government Palace while people were watching it, but it fell, damaging part of the quarry of the site with heritage value.

In addition to injuring himself, he caused damage

The young man was injured. However, injuries are not the only consequence of trying to jump in the Government Palace, since the Ministry of Culture of Jalisco confirmed that it left damage to the heritage building of historical value.

“The Directorate of Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture contacted the General Services Office of the Government Palace, in charge of matters relating to the conservation and maintenance of the property, who reported that from the General Secretariat of Government the corresponding complaint was already made and the INAH was notified of the damage, for its repair,” the state government said in a statement.

They explained that “since it is a historical monument built in the 18th century, the competent authority that must carry out an expert opinion that assesses the affectations is the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), since it is a property from before the 19th century”.

The Government Palace

The building is in the New Spanish Baroque style, cBuilt between 1750 and 1790 by the architects Manuel José Conique and Nicolás Enrique del Castillo. It has large windows and beautiful balconies, as well as the Churrigueresque-style clock house.

The main stairwell, contains three murals by the painter José Clemente orozco: “Social Struggle”, in which the figure of Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla appears. The side murals receive the names of “The Political Circus” and “The Dark Forces”.
