Friday, around 1:30 p.m., the Liège firefighters were called in for two people, a lady and a young man, who fell into the Meuse in Bressoux (Liège).
In circumstances that are not yet clear, a lady had fallen into the Meuse, near No. 17 of the Quai du Roi Albert in Bressoux. A young man then undressed in two seconds and dived to save the victim in distress.
The whole scene was filmed by several onlookers who then shared the video on social networks to highlight this hero. The video then ended up on several Twitter accounts, including that of “Tajmaât”, a collaborative platform intended for North Africans, but also on “TikTok”.
It was Tajamaât’s Twitter account that honored Nadir, this anonymous everyday hero. And a little more anonymous when we know that this young Algerian is currently illegally residing in Belgium.
The collaborative platform specified this: “A young Algerian in an irregular situation, Nadir, did not hesitate to jump into the water to save the life of an elderly person from drowning, in Liège. He held the victim out of the water until help arrived. »
The firefighters were finally able to get this young man and the elderly lady out of the waters of the Meuse. They were then both taken care of by the emergency services and transported to the CHR de la Citadelle in Liège where their lives were not in danger. It was the great story of the day.
