Suspended by the club, sanctioned by the League and summoned by the courts for “provocation to hatred on grounds of religion” following the sharing of a video, in October, of a preacher who called for “a black day for the Jews”, the Algerian right-back will no longer wear the red and black jersey according to our information. He should leave the Côte d’Azur in the winter transfer window.

The Nice staff, and more particularly the shareholder Ineos, did not appreciate finding themselves at the heart of a new controversy because of this lack of communication for a player under contract until 2024. Removed from the field of Ligue 1 for the entire end of 2023 because of the sanction of 7 matches pronounced once morest him by the disciplinary committee of the Professional Football League, Atal wants to play football once more.

And the leaders hope to obtain financial compensation. Only a transfer during the winter transfer window (January 1-31) might therefore satisfy all parties.

So far, and still according to our information, no club has yet taken a concrete position on the matter. Until then, Youcef Atal will first have to be tried before the Nice criminal court on December 18 for “provocation to hatred on grounds of religion”. A reason for which he faces a one-year prison sentence.
