After the death of the artist, Dalal Abdel Aziz, several months ago, the retired artist, Shams Al-Baroudi, did not agree to wash her body.
At another time, Shams Al-Baroudi announced that she had revealed the reason for stopping washing the bodies of the dead following working for this humanitarian mission several times.
The last of them was with the late artist Hala Fouad, who passed away in 1993 following a struggle with illness.
Al-Baroudi said in exclusive statements to “Al-Watan” that she stood for washing the body of her mother and mother-in-law many years ago, adding:
I responded to Hala Fouad’s will by standing up for her body washing following I was informed of this will from her mother, but I was lying down following any washing for a month or two because of the severity of the situation.”
She added: By asking the scholars, their response to me was as follows: “Caring for your home and your children is more important than the reward for washing and your trouble following it, because you will not be able to take care of your children at that time.”
Since that time, I no longer participate in any washing, especially with the presence of virtuous sisters who perform this reward and may God have mercy on us all.
