Al-Marsad newspaper: Poison control specialist, Magdi Jamal Al-Lail, warned once morest buying sobia from street vendors, and the many dangers it might cause.
The toxicologist said, during his appearance on the Al-Rased program, via Al-Ekhbariya channel, that according to a study conducted at Umm Al-Qura University, it was confirmed that there are harmful bacteria in the sobia, and it may lead to going to the hospital.
He added that samples were taken from several regions, and this drink was analyzed by street vendors, and the results were shocking.
He pointed out that it was found that there are microbes from human waste that may lead to severe
health problems, in addition to bacteria found on fingers and surfaces.
He explained that there may be the use of hands or feet directly in the process of preparing the “Sopia”, as the source is unknown and there is no control over it.
He concluded by saying that if the bacteria are from an unknown source, then they are pathogenic and lead to hospitalizations, and may lead to dysentery.
