Julie Delpy supported her former colleague, Chris Rock, defending him on Instagram. The comedian was slapped in the middle of the Oscars ceremony by Will Smith, who did not appreciate a joke regarding his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
While the world seems to be talking only regarding the slap inflicted by Will Smith on Chris Rock during the Oscars ceremony, the first not having appreciated a joke from the second regarding Jada Pinkett Smith, Julie Delpy broke her silence to defend the comic.
Both had played together in Two Days in New York, in 2012, written and directed by Julie Delpy. The film had been awarded for its screenplay at the Women Film Critics Circle Awards, and had been screened in preview at the Sundance Film Festival.
“Chris Rock, you have my love. You are a brilliant man who decided to do my little independent film for nothing. It’s not a question of which side I’m on, it’s my experience of Chris Rock, a flawed human (like all of us), but kind, sensitive, and extremely talented,” she wrote on Instagram.
A comforting message that should not fail to warm the heart of the comedian.
