With the launch of iOS 16.4recently, Apple fulfilled a promise announced last year and started to offer Notifications push native for web apps on iOS.
Sites like MacMagazine apps have been created for years mainly to offer this possibility, for readers to be notified when new content is posted by us. Of course, our app offers much more than that, but for those of you who just need the pusheswe are happy to announce that starting today, we also support this feature brought by iOS 16.4!
All you need to do is access MacMagazine through Safari, tap the share button on the bottom bar, choose “Add to Home Screen” and confirm the addition of our icon.
Once that’s done, go to the Home screen and open our web app. Once the site loads for the first time, you will see a notification at the bottom to enable push notifications for new posts:
Confirm and… done! ????
From there, you’ll receive notifications whenever a new article goes live here — and, with a tap on it, you’ll be taken to the corresponding post within our web app.
If you want to adjust the way you receive these notifications or even disable them for some reason, just go to Settings » Notifications » MacMagazine and follow through there, just as you would with any app on your iPhone.
We hope you like the news!
