I’ve tried playing games on Android apps on my Chromebook, and while games that are optimized for touchscreens work fine, not all Chromebooks are convertibles or tablets, and they’re not touch-enabled in the first place. Sometimes I mightn’t play with the model.
HoweverIn ChromeOS 105, the function that can be controlled by keyboard operation even if the touch screen is not supportedI just found out that an alpha version of (game controls feature) has been introduced.this isChromeOS.devThis was revealed by a post on
As of ChromeOS 105, it is limited to some titles, but for Android games that can be operated only with a touch screen, it is possible to control by replacing key presses with touch.
Not only devices that originally support touch screens, but also non-touch-compatible Chromebooks can be operated using the keyboard, and even if they are output to an external monitor, they can play Android games on Chromebooks. This is a big improvement for users.
From the ChromeOS.dev post, it looks like you can customize the key bindings for the WASD controls and other keys from the menu, so it looks like you’ll have a lot of flexibility. However, access to navigation menus, etc., requires the use of a mouse or trackpad.
For the initial release, the supported games are the following genres and titles:
Joystick games
Single button Games
Multi-button games
Swipe games
We are told that the number of games that support game control on Chromebooks will continue to increase, so we can expect not only cloud gaming services and Steam but also Android gaming devices. Also, it would be nice if there were more apps that simply worked.
