Tsutsugo signed a minor league contract with the Rangers in January of this year, but was not promoted to the major leagues. He decided to leave in June and spent July as an independent. He played in 68 games in 2A and 3A in the minors, hitting .260 with 10 home runs and an .858 OPS, but his fourth year was his first without a major league appearance.
