HOUSTON — Yordan Alvarez homered with two outs in the ninth inning and the Houston Astros beat the Kansas City Royals 7-6 on Monday for their seventh win.
Led by Kyle Tucker and Alvarez, the AL West-leading Astros erased a five-run deficit to earn their 15th win in their last 18 games.
Tucker led the charge during a three-run rally in the eighth inning with a two-run single, and Alvarez then hit his homer to left off Scott Barlow (2-2) for 24 homers.
Ryne Stanek (1-0) pitched a scoreless ninth for the win.
The Astros also won in their final at-bat on Sunday, thanks to Jeremy Pena’s tiebreaking two-run homer with two outs in the ninth inning of their 4-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels.

For the Royals, the Venezuelan Edward Olivares 4-0.
