President Yoon Seok-yeol said last weekend regarding the problem of Kakao service, “It is a network operated by a private company, but in fact, from the point of view of the public, it is no different from the national communication network.”

He also said, “If the market is distorted in a monopoly or severe oligopoly, the state must take necessary measures,” he said.

“I think that when the infrastructure is at the same level as the infrastructure, the government should take necessary measures for the benefit of the people, of course.”

President Yoon also explained that related issues are being reviewed by the Fair Trade Commission.

The opposition and opposition criticized with one voice that Kakao was not prepared for disaster situations while expanding its business area with an octopus style.

People’s Power criticized that “Kakao did not have a redundancy system to prepare for disaster situations such as fire even following the KT incident”, and criticized it as “a talent created by insensitivity to safety.”

“It can be said that he is a human resource created by a sense of insecurity. (Korea) needs to be sufficiently prepared for the threat of North Korea’s provocation, so it is urgent to prepare related countermeasures from the national security level…”

The Democratic Party also pointed out that Kakao maintained its monopoly position but did not take responsibility as a result, and said that the government’s management and response were insufficient.

“The Ministry of Science and ICT had poor pre-management and supervision of business operators, and even following the incident, there was no special action to guide the disaster and spread the situation.”

The National Assembly’s overdefense has decided to call Kakao Chairman Kim Beom-su, Naver Global Investment Manager Hae-jin Hae-jin, and SK Chairman Chey Tae-won as witnesses of the state audit in order to identify the cause of the situation and come up with countermeasures.
