The results of a survey on the 10th showed that the majority of public opinion preferred ‘People’s Government Building’ as the new name of the presidential office. Previously, the Presidential Office announced on the 3rd that it had selected ‘People’s House’, ‘People’s Government Complex’, ‘Mineum Government Complex’, ‘Barunnuri’, and ‘Itaewon-ro 22’ as five candidates for the new name of the office.

When Gallup Korea asked 1,000 people aged 18 and over nationwide on the 7th and 9th, ‘Which one do you like the most as the name of the Yongsan Presidential Office?’, 36% of the respondents chose the National Government Complex.

The national government building means a public space for the people, and it goes beyond the government building, which means to hear the voices of the people (聽, hear), and think of the people (思, think). It was followed by People’s House (12%), Itaewon-ro 22 (10%), Barunnuri (8%), and Mineum Government Complex (7%).

The National Government Complex was selected the most among all respondents, and Itaewon-ro 22 and Barunnuri were surveyed to have good responses among the 2030 generations. When asked regarding their opinions on the relocation of the presidential office from the Blue House to Yongsan, 44% of the respondents answered ‘I see it as good’ and ‘I see it not as good’, respectively, at 44%.

The response that President Yun Seok-yeol was ‘doing well’ recorded 53%, the same as last week’s survey. Negative evaluation of ‘doing it wrong’ was counted at 33%, ‘neither side’ was 2%, and ‘don’t know’ or ‘refusal to respond’ was 12%.

The sampling error of this opinion poll was ±3.1%p at the 95% confidence level, and it was conducted through an interview with a telephone surveyor. For more detailed information regarding the poll, please refer to the website of the Central Opinion Survey Deliberation Committee.
