The‌ Bulgarian sailors captured on the Galaxy Leader ‌ship in the Red‍ Sea are finaly coming home. MEP ⁢Elena ⁣Yoncheva shared the ‌joyous ‌news,⁣ revealing the sailors were in good health‌ despite enduring over a year of captivity by the Yemeni Houthis.

“Obviously they look ⁣good, but I ⁣think ​after 14 months in captivity they are exhausted and emaciated. However, they​ showed‌ that they have a high spirit, that ⁣they are strong ‍and brave Bulgarian men,” ” Yoncheva stated.

Lubomir Chanev and⁤ Danail​ Veselinov are the names of the‌ two Bulgarian sailors who endured a harrowing ordeal. According to Yoncheva,who was in contact with them throughout their captivity,the men were initially held aboard the ship,later moved to ‍”somthing similar to hotel conditions,” ⁤and finally taken to ‍the Yemeni capital Sana’a.

Yoncheva also revealed⁤ that international‍ efforts were underway to secure their release, ‌noting: “Many countries were⁣ negotiating for the Bulgarians to be included in the truce between Israel‌ and Hamas.Last week I ​spoke with ⁢one of the main negotiators in Qatar.”

A goverment plane carrying‌ a delegation⁣ led by Foreign Minister ⁣Georgi ​Georgiev departed yesterday⁤ for Muscat, ⁤Oman – a crucial step in bringing the ‌sailors safely back to their loved ones.
