Yoga/Sport: a highly attractive market in Ramadan | Conso news

Although it has already been on the rise for a while in Morocco, the practice of Yoga or this “founding path” as qualified by several practitioners, takes more and more place in the daily life of Moroccans during the month of Ramadan. , allowing him to combine calm, relaxation and spirituality.

The yoga and wellness market, which has especially grown in Morocco since the first confinement caused by the Covid-19 crisis, has positively helped, physically or mentally, many people who have found themselves locked in them overnight. And since then, it has become a habit that feels good every day!

Moreover, Morocco today is a perfectly dense terrain to practice different types of yoga in breathtaking places, whether in the South or in the North. Between “surf and yoga”, “aerial yoga in the middle of nature”, “yoga and detox retreats”, all the proposals are there, to attract followers from all over the world, who are ready to do anything to relax their muscles on the mat and silently savor the present moment.

“For several years, this practice, which is much more than a simple sporting activity, has experienced exponential development. Indeed, it responds to multiple demands, such as physical and psychological well-being and also affects various audiences, of all professions, philosophical or spiritual orientations”, explained in a statement to MAP, Lina R’kiouak, Professor of Yoga.

She, in this sense, noted that during the sacred month full of yogis (beginners or confirmed) add the practice of yoga in their “to-do-list”, underlining for this purpose, that the postures of this one, are adaptable to all levels which makes it more and more accessible.

“We need to clear our minds during this sacred month, detoxify our body but also our soul. Different flows in Yoga allow us to evacuate stress and tensions blocked in our body, while working the muscles from the inside with very specific stretches and postures”, she said, specifying that the Yogi can also add to his practice the chanting of healing sounds or listening to vibrational frequencies to relax the inner organs and let go.

In the opinion of this seasoned practitioner, this discipline which alternates series of moving meditation, fixed poses and postures combined with deep breathing techniques is often complemented by breathing exercises (pranayama). “Prana” means breath and “yama” means control, detailed the professor.

“Practicing pranayama is beneficial for health, insofar as it improves digestion and the circulation of energies. We are less contracted, more relaxed and it is very good for the heart. We sleep better, we concentrate more easily and we improve our productivity,” she said.

For the month of Ramadan, Mrs. R’kiouak indicated that apart from the spiritual side, fasting is a very beneficial detox for the body and the fact of combining it with a regular practice of yoga is very useful in the sense that the union of breathing and movements promotes the process of elimination.

“The practice brings better oxygenation of organs and tissues, which is very beneficial for general cleansing. During Ramadan, I recommend two aerial yoga classes, YIN (in the morning) and Energy Boost (before ftour). The YIN that I adapted to the hammock is a gentle practice to release pressure,” she argued.

And to maintain that it is an ultra slow practice with multiple benefits for the mind, unlike YIN, the “Energy Boost” which is a practice that combines Yoga postures and circus figures all performed on the hammock or silk and which allow an instant boost of energy, which can only be beneficial during this month.

And it is Nidal Rechidi, moreover, who confirms it. A Yoga follower for several months now, the young Yogi tells us that this practice, beyond its sporting aspect, carries many values, including, in particular, a reconnection with oneself and a permanent search for balance in life. ‘existence.

Either very positive values, she said, which resonate with the desires of individuals, which have been further exacerbated by the period we are living through, noting that this culture, even beyond the discipline, and by all the codes it conveys and which make bridges with beauty, aesthetics, etc., is an integral part of a lifestyle.

It is clear that if this discipline is becoming popular, unraveling its mystery and understanding all its dimensions and contours requires in-depth initiation and daily involvement!
