“Yingzhujia” reporting platform only supports WeChat Deng Bingqiang: “WhatsApp has security risks”

The police recently proposed to spend about 5.2 billion yuan to build a new generation of communication system infrastructure. The Secretary for Security, Tang Bingqiang, attended the meeting of the Legislative Council Security Affairs Committee the day before yesterday, saying that digital policing is one of the strategic principles of the police force. He said that in the future, he will strengthen the use of digital technology to improve the efficiency of law enforcement, including the “electronic fixed penalty notice” and the “Yingzhujia” application program.

The police launched the “Yingzhujia” mobile reporting platform in April last year, allowing users to upload clips and report non-emergency traffic violations with their real names. However, a year after its launch, the platform is still only applicable to the WeChat application. Some Members asked whether the application of “Yingzhujia” would be extended to other communication software and non-emergency cases.

Deng Bingqiang responded that he is more cautious about the application of social media, “especially WhatsApp has some security risks”, so “Shadow Live Drive” will continue to be carried out only on the WeChat platform.
