The stock price of YG Entertainment (YG Entertainment (122870)) is showing a sharp decline due to the news that the renewal of the contract with Lisa, a member of the girl group Black Pink, has become unclear.
According to the Korea Exchange on the 12th, YG shares are trading at 74,800 won, down 5.2% from the previous trading day at 10:30 am on the same day. The stock price, which had risen to 80,500 won at the beginning of the market, turned to a downward trend immediately following some media outlets reported that there was a high possibility that Lisa would leave BLACKPINK.
Earlier, the Munhwa Ilbo reported that the local agency in China, which was coordinating YG and Lisa’s schedule, received a reply from YG saying, “It is difficult to discuss the schedule following August because the renewal of the contract is unclear.”
Regarding Lisa’s program schedule in China, YG explained, “(The reason why we mightn’t discuss the schedule following August) was because of her tour and personal schedule” and “It has nothing to do with whether she signed a contract or not.”
Meanwhile, the members of BLACKPINK, who debuted in 2016, are regarding to expire this year’s exclusive contract with YG Entertainment in August.
