‘Yesudas’s words about Vayalar were shocking and ungrateful’; SP Namboothiri

Poet and writer SP Namboothiri criticizes singer Yesudas. Vayalar’s friend SP Namboothiri alleged that Yesudas spoke very badly regarding lyricist Vayalar Ramavarma and that Yesudas did not look back at his family following his death.

When a trust was formed in his name following Vayalar’s death, Yesudas refused to contribute to it. SP Namboothiri also said that Yesudas had become the personification of ingratitude. The words he said in an interview given to Sandesh channel are noteworthy now.

After the death of Vayalar Rama Varma, Yesudas did not look back at his family. It can be understood that it is due to rush. With Vayalar’s death, his family became orphans. He had no savings. Lived lavishly. A trust was also formed to protect the family which includes wife, mother and children. Its main purpose was to give the award in memory of Vayalar.

“All film stars, technicians, crew and everyone associated with the film contributed to the trust named following Vayalar. Yesudas alone did not cooperate. Not only that, he said one more sentence at that time. ‘What should people like us do who got cirrhosis of the liver following drinking toddy all the money they got in the good times’? At that time the man was becoming the epitome of ingratitude. He then reacted as if he was ungrateful,’ SP Namboothiri said.

He also alleged that he repeated this in a press conference. It was a big shock to everyone who loved Vayalar. SP Namboothiri added that Vayalar’s wife told him that she wondered how someone with such a sweet voice might say such a harsh word.
