Richard Pánik says farewell to Slovan Bratislava

Richard Pánik (Slovak) made his debut in the Slovak league at the age of 33.
Following a standout performance that helped his team secure a victory, Slovak hockey player Richard Pánik bid adieu to HC Slovan Bratislava and its fans in an emotional farewell message.
A Fond Farewell
After playing what proved to be his final game for Slovan on Wednesday, Pánik addressed his fans directly via a video message. “Hello Slavs. I played my last game on Wednesday. I had a good time here with you – great fans, booth. Thank you for being here. I wish you much success and that the season ends victoriously,” Pánik said.
Details about Pánik’s next career move are expected to surface soon. The 33-year-old winger signed a short-term contract with Slovan towards the end of September.
Making History in Bratislava
In his time with Slovan, Pánik quickly made an impact, scoring six goals and providing seven assists. His 18 appearances marked not only his accolade but also his first experience playing in Slovakia’s highest hockey league. The seasoned athlete boasts an impressive 541 appearances in the NHL.

**[RICHARD PÁNIK]** Hi everyone, thanks for having me.
**[HOST]** Richard, earlier this month, news broke that you would be leaving HC Slovan Bratislava. Can you tell us a little about your decision?
**[RICHARD PÁNIK]** Of course. It was a difficult decision, believe me. Bratislava is my home, and Slovan is where I started my professional career. But after a lot of thought, I felt it was time for a new challenge. I’ve accomplished a lot here, and I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given.
**[HOST]** Can you elaborate on what kind of “challenge” you’re looking for? Are you considering retirement, or are you pursuing options outside of Slovakia?
**[RICHARD PÁNIK]** As of now, I’m keeping my options open. I’m not ready to hang up the skates just yet. I still feel I have a lot to offer.
**[HOST]** Looking back on your career, what are some of your proudest accomplishments?
**[RICHARD PÁNIK]** Playing in the NHL was definitely a dream come true. Being drafted by Tampa Bay and representing Slovakia on the international stage are experiences I’ll cherish forever. But honestly, playing for Slovan and representing my hometown has been just as special.
**[HOST]** We’ve seen a surge in Slovakian talent in the NHL recently. What advice would you give to young players aspiring to follow in your footsteps?
**[RICHARD PÁNIK]** Hard work, dedication, and believing in yourself are key. And don’t forget to enjoy the journey.
