An investigation carried out by Latina Noticias revealed that the Financial Intelligence Unit of Peru (UIF) detected that two brothers of the first lady, Lilia Paredestransferred S/ 90 thousand to Hugo Espino Lucana and Anggie Espino Lucana.

As detailed, the delivery of money, by Walther Paredes Navarro and David Paredes Navarro, was divided into S/ 70 thousand for Hugo Espino Lucana and another S/ 20 thousand for Anggie Espino Lucana.
The Special Team against Corruption of Power, led by prosecutor Marita Barreto, considered that the money could have an illicit origin, for which a preliminary investigation was opened for money laundering against Pedro Castillo’s sister-in-law, Yenifer Paredesand the brothers of the first lady.

Likewise, it was decided to expand the investigation against Yenifer Paredes and open inquiries to Hugo Espino and the mayor of Anguía, Nenil Medina, for the alleged commission of the crime of criminal organization.
As explained by Latina, this originates from an emergency decree issued in September 2021 by the Minister of Housing, Geiner Alvarado. Said decree had a list of works to finance on water and sanitation issues, among which was the work won by the company Destcon Ingenieros y Arquitectos.
There are another 28 works on the same list, so the Public Ministry suspects that they may have obtained the good pro in a fraudulent manner and there is an alleged criminal organization.
Faced with these facts, the special team of prosecutors recommended the report to the Attorney General’s Office to open an investigation against Pedro Castillo and the head of the Ministry of Housing.
