Houthi rebels seize UAE-flagged cargo ship in the Yemeni port city of Hudaydah. The ship was hijacked on its way to the port of Jazan with equipment from a field hospital set up by Saudi Arabia on the island of Socotra. A Houthi military spokesman confirmed that Yahya Sari had captured the ship. The ship is carrying ambulances, medical equipment, telecommunications equipment, tents, cooking utensils, laundry equipment, technical and safety equipment.
The Arab League demanded the immediate release of the ship. The Arab League warned that the army would have to be used. Coalition spokesman Brigadier General Turki al-Maliki warned that the ship should be released immediately, or that steps be taken to deal with the violation, including by force.
