The Oman national team occupies the third place in the standings of the first group with one point, while Yemen is at the bottom of the group standings in the fourth place without a balance of points, as the Omani team snatched a tie point from the Iraqi host without goals in the first round, while Yemen lost from Saudi Arabia with two clean goals.
Iraq is hosting the Arab Gulf Cup competitions for the first time since 1979, as both teams seek to win to ensure competition for snatching one of the two qualifying cards for the next round.
The Yemeni national team is looking for the first victory in the history of its participation in the Arabian Gulf Cup, following playing 31 matches, drawing in 6 of them and losing 25 times.
While the Oman national team played 108 matches in the tournament, during which it achieved 20 wins, 28 draws, and lost 60 matches so far.

The first group includes the teams of Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman and Yemen, and plays their matches at the Basra International Stadium, while the teams of the Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait participate in the second group and play their matches at Al-Mina Stadium.
The championship competitions will be held between January 6 and 19 in the Iraqi city of Basra, and each team seeks to reach the podium.
