Yellow fever outbreak in Chad

Au Chad, 25 cases of yellow fever have been confirmed in the province of Tandjilémore specifically in the sub-prefectures of Laï et
Dressage.

A yellow fever vaccination response campaign was officially launched on July 7, 2022 in Laï.

This is the first yellow fever outbreak in Chad reported since 2013. It is possible that the yellow fever virus is circulating in the country but has not been detected since then. The current epidemic is not focal, the 25 confirmed cases having occurred in 2 health districts.

The health recommendations for travelers are clear. Vaccination (vaccine Stamaril) once morest yellow fever (from the age of 9 months) is essential (whether compulsory or not) for a stay in an endemic (intertropical regions of Africa and South America) or epidemic zone, even in the absence of an administrative obligation. The World Health Organization (March 2014 decision) considers that a single dose of yellow fever vaccine confers lifelong protection. However, the French authorities recommend that the traveler be given a second dose of yellow fever vaccine under the following conditions:
