Gwalior: Rest of India champions in Irani Cup. Rest of India defeated Madhya Pradesh by 238 runs to become champions of the Irani Cup. Rest of India won the Irani Cup on the strength of the brilliant performance of the young player Yashaswi Jaiswal who scored a double century in the first innings and a century in the second innings. Chasing a target of 437 runs, Madhya Pradesh were all out for 198 runs on the fifth day. Score Rest of India 484, 246, Madhya Pradesh 294, 198.
Yashaswi who scored 213 runs and Abhimanyu Eswar who scored 154 runs in the first innings gave the best score for Rest of India. Only Yash Dubey who scored 109 runs in reply batted for Madhya Pradesh. Yashaswi scored 144 runs in the second innings as well and took Rest of India.

Yashaswi, who batted in ODI style, hit three sixes and 16 boundaries in 157 balls and scored 144 runs to take Rest of India to 246 runs. Chasing a huge target of 437 runs, only captain Himanshu Mantri (51) and Harsh Gawali (48) struggled in the second innings for Madhya Pradesh. Saurabh Kumar, who took three wickets, Mukesh Kumar, Atit Seth and Pulkit Narang, who took two wickets each, bowled Madhya Pradesh.
Fans believe that Yashasvi, who shone with a century in both innings in the Irani Cup, has strengthened his claim to get a place in the Indian Test team. Yashasvi is the opener for Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals in the IPL.
