It all started with the video posted by the MP of New Democracy, Yiannis Kallianos, last Tuesday, in which he described the health adventure of his father Dimitris, leaving tips for his treatment in a specific public nursing institution. As he mentioned, about 25 days ago he was taken to the hospital in Voula, because his leg suddenly turned black. Due to the fact that his toe had to be amputated, the hospital told them that such major vascular surgery issues cannot be dealt with and he had to go to another hospital, which was “Attikon”.
On April 6, he was admitted to the First University Vascular Surgery Clinic of the “Attikon” Hospital, where the doctors proceeded with an amputation. On the sixth day of his hospitalization, he began to desaturate, that is, the oxygen saturation dropped and he became short of breath, as reported by Yiannis Kallianos. The MP, along with his doctor brother, asked to be admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, which the doctors deemed unnecessary.
According to Yiannis Kallianos, his father had a stroke, the doctors brought him back and then put him in the Intensive Care Unit, where he died last Thursday. “”It was not the problem of the Health system. The problem was that three specific people were saying that my father is fine and does not need to be admitted to either the ICU or the ICU. If they had listened to my brother, my father would be by my side right now. Unfortunately, no one listened to him,” says Mr. Kallianos.

After the death of Dimitris Kallianos, the hospital administrator ordered a Sworn Administrative Examination (SAR) to investigate all the conditions of the 79-year-old’s hospitalization from the day of his admission.
