The Yankees announced Saturday that they have acquired catcher Jose Treviño from the Rangers for right-hander Albert Abreu and left-hander Robert Ahlstrom.
Trevino, 29, is projected to be the Bombers’ backup man, with Ben Rortvedt still recovering from a right oblique strain.
Trevino hit a .239/.267/.340 line with five home runs and 30 RBIs through 89 games with Texas last year.
Abreu, 26, without minor league options, posted a 5.68 ERA in his first two seasons in the Majors (2020-2021).
Alhstrom was the Yankees’ seventh-round pick in the 2021 Amateur Draft.
