YANGO, participates in the West African Internet Governance Forum (WAIGF) to promote dynamic development of the digital sector in Senegal and West Africa –

Dakar, Senegal, July 16, 2024-/African Media Agency(AMA)/-The international VTC and user matching service Yango Group, part of the global technology company of the same name, actively participated in the West Africa Internet Governance Forum, held from July 10 to 12, 2024 in Dakar, Senegal. The event, themed “Disruptive Technologies: How Far?”, is a key regional platform for dialogue on Internet governance. Supported by the United Nations and the ECOWAS Commission, the conference is organized and hosted by the Senegalese government under the leadership of the Ministry of Communication, Telecommunications and Digital Affairs. It brought together key industry stakeholders and partners, both national and international, to promote the development of Internet governance in Senegal and West Africa.

One of these notable sessions was the inaugural address of the PH.E M. Alioune Sall, Minister of Communication, Telecommunications and Digital Affairs of Senegal, followed by a round table on the main subject with the principal advisor to the government of the Tony Blair Institute, Ms. Ndeye Maïmouna Diop, Hon. Senator Shuaib Afolabi SalisuChairman, Senate Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity in Nigeria, Mr. Pierre DandjinouVice President of Stakeholder Engagement at ICANN Africa, Mrs. Marie Ahouantchedefrom the Digital Transformation Coordination at the ECOWAS Commission, and Kadotien Alassane SoroRegional Manager for West Africa at Yango.


Mr. Soro presented Yango’s vision for the future of African cities. He highlighted that the company continues to innovate and bring a multitude of convenient services to African markets, all powered by a single app. It has already taken off in markets like Abidjan, where Yango offers a variety of services such as a ride-hailing platform, restaurant technology, and cloud-based parcel delivery and image hosting technologies. Supporting the WAIGF 2024 presents a strategic opportunity to foster collaboration among West African countries on Internet governance issues, facilitating the sharing of best practices and experiences to strengthen our engagement in policy discussions and promote the development of inclusive policies: we have engaged with various stakeholders in the policy development process to ensure that Internet governance policies are inclusive and impactful for all in the region.”

The Yango team also shared some best practices and examples of successful cooperation and shared information regarding the technologies that Yango uses for security development that are based on AI, Yango’s customer experience, which is characterized by differentiators such as technology, price, map, security features and many other features.

Mr. Soro added: “Our mission is to provide practical, affordable and secure technology solutions that match the needs of the African market.
