The Monster Energy Yamaha rider duo, Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins, admitted that they are ready to bounce back at the Austrian GP at the Red Bull Ring Circuit, Spielberg, this weekend.

With 10 GPs over the next 14 weeks, Quartararo is preparing to cover many more kilometres. He arrives in Austria in 14th position in the provisional standings.

Although the Spielberg Circuit is not considered a ‘Yamaha track’, the French rider has scored several premier class podiums there.

He secured third place in Austria with his YZR-M1 in 2019, repeated the feat at the 2021 Styrian GP, and took second place
in Spielberg in 2022.

“We will do what we always do this year. We will try some new things, collect data and give 100% in Spielberg in the Sprint and the main race,” said Quartararo, quoted from Yamaha’s official statement, Thursday (15/8).

Forced to withdraw from the British GP two weeks ago due to side effects from injuries sustained at the Dutch GP, Rins said he has been recovering and training for the past two weeks.

stronger for Spielberg,” said Rins.

“I’ve been training on and off the bike, and I’ve been in constant contact with the medical experts throughout the process. I feel fine, so I’m happy to be back on my M1 again,” he added.

Monster Energy Yamaha Team Director Massimo Meregalli said that his team is also excited to start fighting again in Austria this weekend, because the rider line-up is complete again.

“However, this track has a rather unique layout, with stop-start characteristics and only eleven corners, so
making it an interesting circuit for collecting data,” Meregalli said.

The first day of the Austrian GP series will roll on Friday (16/8) with practice sessions at 15.45 WIB and 20.00 WIB.

On Saturday (17/8), there is a second free practice session at 15.10 WIB, qualifying at 15.50 WIB, and Sprint at 20.00 WIB.

The main Austrian GP race will be held on Sunday (18/8) at 19.00 WIB. (Ant/Z-1)
