While Yamaha is known for its hi-fi systems, amplifiers, helmets even his wireless headphonesthe Japanese manufacturer specializing in audio also offers a range of sound bars rather complete. Especially since it has been enriched this week by the announcement of a new particularly compact and affordable model, the Yamaha SR-C30A.

This new soundbar has a particularly small size with dimensions of 600 x 64 x 94 mm, i.e. a total width of just 60 cm. It is in fact a soundbar intended for both small televisions – which often suffer from a particularly poor sound system – and desktop computers. It can thus be easily positioned under a PC screen to allow you to enjoy sound broadcast other than by headphones or the often mediocre speakers of PC screens.

With such a size, inevitably, the Yamaha SR-C30A does not rely on the number of voices and processing surround galore. It’s basically a simple 2.1 bar with two voices on the bar itself — 1.8-inch-diameter cone speakers — and the bass handled by a bundled wireless subwoofer — with a 13cm cone speaker. Enough to still offer a power of up to 90 W (2×20 W + 50 W).

A soundbar with full connectivity

On the connector side, however, Yamaha wants to be rather generous. There are indeed two optical digital audio inputs, an analog audio input and a prise HDMI ARC, CEC-compliant. The speaker is also Bluetooth compatible and can therefore be used as a wireless speaker for your smartphone.

If the Yamaha SR-C30A only offers a 2.1 system, it does however offer virtualization surround with four built-in programs: Stereo, Standard, Game and Movie. A function « Clear Voice » is also there to highlight voices in films, documentaries or reports.

The Yamaha SR-C30A soundbar will be available in September. It will be offered only in black at a price of 369 euros. How to position it facing the Sonos Raylaunched in the spring at 299 euros, or Polk Signa S4with its Dolby Atmos 3.1.2 system for 350 euros.
