“The production (Fino) must be checked first,” added Rifki.
For the scooter class segment neo retro or retro modern Which stylishYamaha seems to focus on playing in the classy category, there are Fazzio and Grand Filano.
Fino compared to its closest competitor, the Honda Scoopy, which has been running in Indonesia for a decade and has reached its 5th generation. Even the newest model launched today, the latest Honda Scoopy is sold for IDR 22,525,000 to IDR 23,330,000.
The thing that makes Fino lag behind its competitors is luggage capacity. The Fino has 8.7 L of storage. Meanwhile, the Honda Scoopy has a spacious trunk of 15.4 L. Apart from that, to make it easier for users, the Scoopy is equipped with a charging socket feature. gadget.

The Yamaha Fino: Still Stylish or Stuck in the Past?
Jakarta – Let’s pull back the curtain on the Yamaha Fino—the little scooter that could and, well, still kind of can!
Now, you might be thinking, “Retro is all the rage, but how long can the Fino keep its charm?” Introduced back in 2012, the Fino waved its stylish flag high and mighty, but it’s had a few nips and tucks since then—like that time your aunt got a facelift and started wearing crop tops at 50!
After a refresh in mid-2017 with the Grande variant (because “Grande” is fancy, right?), Yamaha decided that sticking with the same engine while giving a ‘pop of color’ would be enough to maintain Fino’s appeal. It’s like applying a fresh coat of paint to your garden shed. Sure, it looks good, but we all know it’s still a shed!
The Fino, now in its third generation, proudly boasts three variants: Fino Grande, Fino Premium, and Fino Sporty, priced from IDR 20,400,000 to IDR 21,610,000. Flattering price tags, right? Just what every Indonesian feels like splurging on a retro scooter!
Rifki Maulana, the guy over at Yamaha managing PR, claims the Fino still has its fans in the archipelago. “Fino still exists in several areas. Especially in the East (area), it is still quite high,” he quipped from South Tangerang. Dapper chap, isn’t he? But let’s face it, Fino has become the retro equivalent of that buddy you keep around because you feel guilty for not texting him back.
However, hold your horses, because here comes the 2024 Indonesia Motorcycle Show, and guess what? The Fino won’t be making an appearance! “The production (Fino) must be checked first,” Rifki informed us. Kind of like sending your grandma for a medical check-up before the family picnic.
Now, let’s talk competition! Enter the Honda Scoopy—the very bike that’s outpaced Fino with a decade-long run of updates and a fancy 5th generation iteration. Selling between IDR 22,525,000 and IDR 23,330,000, Honda has turned Scoopy into the ‘cool kid’ in the retro class.
The Fino might excel in engine performance with its 125 cc Blue Core engine churning out 7.0 kW at 8000 rpm, but that’s like being the star quarterback on a losing high school team—great numbers, but where’s the trophy?
What’s really kneecapping the Fino’s chances? Luggage capacity—eight point seven liters. That’s about enough space for a potted plant and a sandwich. Meanwhile, Honda Scoopy is flexing a whopping 15.4 liters! And don’t even get me started on the Scoopy’s handy charging socket—it’s practically a mobile charging station. The Fino might be eye-catching, but it’s definitely lacking in some serious usability.
In the style department, both bikes are fighting for retro-modern supremacy, but with Yamaha skewing more towards the ‘stylish’ side of things, it begs the question: Is Fino sacrificing practicality for aesthetics? That’s a debate fit for the philosophers—over a cup of coffee, or in this case, maybe over some motor oil.
So, as we zoom into the future, will the Yamaha Fino continue to ride the retro wave or will it be left in the dust, a nostalgic footnote in the history of scooters? Time will tell, but if Yamaha is banking on throwback vibes alone, they’re going to need more than just a flash of color and a flick of the kickstand.

Jakarta –
Before the arrival of the stylish Fazzio and Grand Filano, Yamaha relied heavily on the Yamaha Fino to capture the retro motorbike market aesthetic. How does the Fino fare today?
Originally introduced in 2012, the Yamaha Fino underwent a significant refresh in mid-2017 when the Grande variant was launched. This 125 cc motorbike has maintained its core features and engine without a complete overhaul.
The Yamaha Fino has entered its third generation since 2016, having evolved beyond the Mio styling to offer three distinct variants: Fino Grande, Fino Premium, and the Fino Sporty, with price tags ranging from IDR 20,400,000 to IDR 21,610,000.

Rifki Maulana, Public Relations, YRA & Community Manager at PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM), shared insights on the enduring popularity of the Yamaha Fino among Indonesian consumers.
“Fino still enjoys a following in various regions, particularly in Eastern Indonesia, where its appeal remains strong,” said Rifki during a recent event in South Tangerang.
However, the Fino is set to miss out on the upcoming 2024 Indonesia Motorcycle Show.
“Before proceeding, we must conduct a thorough check on Fino’s production,” Rifki added.
In the neo-retro or retro-modern scooter segment, Yamaha appears to be shifting focus towards the more upscale offerings of the Fazzio and Grand Filano.
When contrasting the Fino with its nearest rival, the Honda Scoopy, which has been a staple in Indonesia for over a decade now and is currently on its fifth generation, the competition is evident. The latest iteration of the Honda Scoopy is priced between IDR 22,525,000 to IDR 23,330,000.
One significant disadvantage for the Fino is its luggage capacity, which offers only 8.7 L of storage space. In stark contrast, the Honda Scoopy boasts a much more generous trunk that holds 15.4 L. Furthermore, the Scoopy also features a charging socket, adding convenience for users with gadgets.
When it comes to engine performance, the Fino shines with its powerful specifications. The Honda Scoopy is equipped with a 110cc enhanced Smart Power (eSP) air-cooled injection engine, which, combined with an automatic transmission, generates 6.6 kW at 7,500 rpm and a torque of 9.3 Nm at 5,500 rpm.
In comparison, the Yamaha Fino features a more robust Blue Core 125 cc air-cooled engine, achieving 7.0 kW at 8,000 rpm and generating a torque of 9.6 Nm at 5,500 rpm, showcasing its competitive edge in performance.

E Yamaha Fino’s ongoing appeal in Indonesia. He mentioned, “Fino still exists in several areas. Especially in the East (area), it is still quite high,” demonstrating that the scooter still holds a place in the hearts of some riders, particularly in specific regions.
Despite this, the Yamaha Fino will not be part of the 2024 Indonesia Motorcycle Show. Rifki noted, ”The production (Fino) must be checked first,” indicating that the company is taking a careful approach to ensure the quality and reliability of the model before showcasing it.
The current competition for the Fino comes from the Honda Scoopy, which has been a dominant player in the retro scooter market for over a decade. The Scoopy is now in its fifth generation and boasts both style and practicality. With a price range of IDR 22,525,000 to IDR 23,330,000, it offers features such as a larger luggage capacity—15.4 liters compared to the Fino’s 8.7 liters—and a charging socket for gadgets, making it a more user-friendly option.
Engine-wise, the Yamaha Fino utilizes a 125 cc Blue Core engine that produces 7.0 kW of power, while the Honda Scoopy is equipped with a 110 cc engine that generates 6.6 kW. While the Fino has an edge in power, its smaller storage capacity and lack of cutting-edge features may hinder its competitive edge against the well-rounded Honda Scoopy.
As Yamaha shifts its focus to the Fazzio and Grand Filano models, the question remains whether the Yamaha Fino can remain relevant in a market that increasingly favors not just style but also practicality and innovation. As we look ahead, the Fino’s legacy may well depend on its ability to adapt and evolve alongside changing consumer preferences.
