Beijing, China (ots) – Chengdu, in southwest China, is known as the “Heaven of Kitchens” and makes great efforts to fuse diverse cuisines from North and South China. Foodies can also discover Chengdu-style Western dishes here.
As the host city of the World University FISU Games 2021, Chengdu has completed all preparations for this grand event – from the completed venues to transportation projects. Youngsters from all over the world are expected to compete in the city for their sporting goals.
What food will Chengdu serve the athletes and how to meet their needs from different countries and regions?
Y China’s Raz Galor heads to Chengdu to explore the athlete’s restaurant ahead of its official opening. He talks to Chinese and British chefs, learns regarding the preparation process in the canteens and takes a look at the menus. Afterwards, Raz is allowed to taste some representative dishes in the canteen and enjoy the food from a foreigner’s perspective.
The FISU Games 2021 Organizing Committee recommends a total of 100 restaurants in Chengdu to tourists, and Raz visits a chuanchuan (skewered) restaurant to taste the spicy food well known in China and the rest of the world. In doing so, he realizes that Chengdu cuisine also reflects the city’s hospitable and vibrant culture.
